Sorell- a great alternative to spinach and great for butterflies. πŸ›πŸ¦‹

This in my garden is ‘Sorrel’ (Rumex acetosa).
It is a common plant in grassland habitats and is cultivated as a garden herb or salad vegetable (pot herb). I also planted it because The leaves are eaten by the larvae of several species of Lepidoptera (butterfly and moth) including the blood-vein moth, as well as by non-specialized snails and slugs.

When I planted it last year it didn’t establish very well and I thought it had died, so of course as you can imagine this year after 3 horrendous storms and when I could finally get in the garden this spring I was delighted to see it had came back!
