Why ‘The OA’ is one of my favourite Netflix series and a review on series 2.

Out of all the series I have watched especially on Netflix (which is a lot) if someone was to ask me what my one of my favourite series is, ‘The OA’ would definitely be one of my top choices.

What is it about?

{SERIES 1}

Having gone missing seven years ago, the previously blind Prairie (otherwise known as OA) returns home, now in her twenties with her sight fully restored plus now she has severe scaring on her back which she will not explain nor does she remember how she received them.

While many believe she is a miracle, others worry that she could be dangerous.

When she is first questioned, she not only does not remember her name but anyone she meets, at least at first.

The truth is frequently never simple or easy.

The OA is a delightfully odd TV series, not at all like ‘Stranger things’ and similar comparisons that shouldn’t be made.

It is a series more similar to ‘Sense 8’ (another favourite TV series of mine), that is an oddity unto itself, drawing the viewer in to the plots of the various characters and the spooky, spiritual and thriller themed story line that keeps you guessing upon every episode.

It is a series with exceptional story telling and exceptional characters and acting with actors including….

It seems like every good thriller themed TV series or film I watch Jason Isaac’s is in it! He is a terrific actor and I cant fault his performance in this or anything else I’ve seen him in, he plays his chosen characters exceptionally well.

Series 2.

I watched the first season 3 years ago in just over 2 weeks and I was hooked from the outset.

This weekend I noticed series 2 was on Netflix- as you can imagine I was EXTREMELY HAPPY! πŸ™πŸ™πŸ˜πŸ˜ I’ve waited so long! 😭😭

It is annoying that Netflix do not promote this series enough!

I binge watched the entire second season from sat-Monday and oh my word I was NOT disappointed. 😍

With this series you’re not just satisfied watching one episode it leaves you confused and wondering and wanting so much more and if you have a curious mind like me, waiting for an answer is unbearable watching another episode is so much easier. πŸ˜‚

The second season of the sci-fi series – which is co-written by its lead actor, Brit Marling – was announced by Netflix way back in February 2017, but a long period of silence followed.

This is in line with the first season, which received zero promotion before dropping out of the blue on the streaming service in December 2016.

Late last year, Marling took to Instagram to assure fans that the series was in the can, and on the way soon. She also gave an explanation for the long delay, which essentially boils down to her having to do two jobs on the series, and it being a lot of work.

“Because I’m both the lead actor and a lead writer we can’t leap-frog the production,” she wrote. “We have to write all eight chapters up front before we can begin shooting the first chapter,” she wrote, before adding β€œSome people thought of Part I ofThe OA as a long film. If you look at it from that perspective [co-creator] Zal [Batmanglij] and I write and create an eight-hour film every two years. That’s pretty fast considering most two-hour films take at least two years to make!”

Season two delves even deeper into this multiple dimension-spanning story…

🚫WARNING SPOILERS! 🚫

The OA Part II, which follows OA as she navigates a new dimension, one in which she had a completely different life as a Russian heiress, and one in which she once again finds herself as Hap’s captive.

Part II introduces Karim Washington, a private detective tasked with finding a missing teen, Michelle Vu. His path crosses with OA, as they try to solve the mystery of Michelle’s whereabouts and a house on Nob Hill connected to the disappearance of several teenagers. Meanwhile, back in the first dimension, BBA, Angie and the boys find themselves on a journey to understand the truth behind OA’s story and the incredible realities she described.

This series was definitely worth the wait but….

Again its left me wanting, needing answers!

I seriously cannot recommend it enough!

Enjoy watching.

Until next time.
